How did you hear about us?
Associate Professor Raymond Younis was educated at the University of Sydney and the University of Oxford. His book, On the Ethical Life (with original contributions from key thinkers like Peter Singer) was published by Cambridge Scholars in January 2010. He has contributed essays to 9 books and over 20 academic journals including The Australasian Journal of Philosophy, Meta-science, European Journal of Philosophy of Religion, Literature/Film Quarterly, Cultural Studies and Asian Studies Review. He has given conference talks at Oxford, Cambridge and Sydney University, among others, and has been invited to speak at an international conference at Harvard University later this year. He is the recipient of a ‘Certificate of Appreciation’ from the University of Sydney “in recognition of eight years teaching excellence”. He taught philosophy and literature at Oxford and teaches and co-ordinates courses on philosophy, literature and cultural studies for the Centre. He was a film critic for nine years and is an experienced wine consultant. He has coordinated and/or taught more than 200 highly successful courses for the Centre. He is working on a new book on science and religion.
Emeritus Professor Jim Psaros was a Professor of Accounting at the University of Newcastle until 2015. He held senior positions at the University of Newcastle including Deputy Head – Faculty of Business and Law, Assistant Dean Teaching and Learning, Director of Executive and Corporate Programs, Head of the Department of Accounting and Finance, and Academic Director of the Sydney Campus.
Prior to entering academia, Emeritus Professor Psaros was employed for several years in Chartered Accounting. He has experience in Australia and overseas working for Big 4 Accounting Firms. For more than 20 years he has taught and researched at Australian and British Universities. He has sat on the Board of Directors of companies and the audit committee of government authorities. He has both extensive professional accounting and research experience.
Emeritus Professor Psaros has a PhD in Accounting from the University of New South Wales. Throughout his research career, Emeritus Professor Psaros has focused on issues of practical importance. He has conducted research in a range of areas including auditing and fraud, the inadequacies of Australian accounting standards, and more recently, corporate governance mechanisms. Emeritus Professor Psaros has published extensively and has made many presentations at professional and academic forums.
Since Emeritus Professor Psaros retired from full-time academia in 2015 he has engaged in various consulting activities in the Higher Education Sector.
Dr Mitchell was awarded her PhD in 2008 from the University of Sydney. Her research interests lie in organisational behaviour, including team dynamics, leadership and social identity in organizations. As an early career researcher, Rebecca has had articles accepted for publication in internationally recognised journals including the Journal of Organizational Behaviour (A*), Human Resource Management (US) (ABDC A*), Human Relations (ABDC A*), Journal of Business Research (ABDC A), Journal of Occupational and Organizational Psychology (ABDC A), International Journal of Human Resource Management (ABDC A) and Small Group Research (ABDC A). She has also published in healthcare management, with articles accepted for publication in Health Care Management Review (ABDC A), Journal of Advanced Nursing (ERA A*), Medical Care Research and Review and International Journal of Nursing Studies (ERA A*).
Overall, more than half of Rebecca’s research outputs are ranked A or A* (Australian Business Deans Council, UK ABS or ERA 2010 list). She has presented more than 30 papers at international conferences including the US and British Academy of Management and is a full professional member of the European Association of Work and Organisational Psychology and the US Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology. Rebecca works with a number of national and international collaborators. She works closely with Hunter New England Local Health District and has a strong connection with the Royal College of Surgeons.
Reflecting the quality of the publications that Rebecca has produced, her academic manuscripts on organisational behaviour and health services management have been recognised internationally, through high-level awards. In 2014, she won the British Academy of Management Best Paper in Strategic Management and, in 2012, the Best Paper Award in Organisational Psychology. She was finalist for the US Academy of Management’s Newman Award in 2008, which is the Academy’s highest honour for a sole-authored paper based on a dissertation. In 2008, she also won the US Academy of Management Best Paper Award in Organizational Behaviour and the Irish Academy of Management Best Paper Award. In 2009, Rebecca was awarded the Best Paper Award in Knowledge and Learning from the British Academy of Management and received the Outstanding Reviewer Award in Organizational Psychology. In 2011, Rebecca was awarded the Irish Academy of Management Best Paper Award. This provides strong evidence of the international value of Dr Mitchell’s research outputs and recognition of research excellence.
Rebecca has successfully supervised a number of doctoral students to completion. Many of her students have published in top-tiered journals, indicating the effectiveness of her supervisory approach.
In addition to her academic experience, Dr Mitchell’s worked in the Australian and Irish public sector, as a senior policy advisor. She has worked as State representative on several Council of Australian Government (COAG) working parties and has developed health, community and social services policy at a state and national level. She also worked as State representative on the Council of Australian Government’s Working Group on Health Reform. This provides sound evidence of her ability to understanding issues of significant national importance, particularly in healthcare, and the capacity to undertake research that spans bridges academic research with policy and practice.
Dr Weeks joined SCU School of Tourism and Hospitality Management in 1991 after 20 years managerial experience in hotel, motel and food service organisations, moving to The Hotel School Sydney (THSS) in 2000, and returning to SCU after 15 years in Sydney. Previous and current experience includes instructional design for subjects offered through the School’s distance education programs, development of curricula across a range of discipline areas, lecturing in management, services management and information technology. Have co-authored two Australian ‘hospitality’ industry texts: Club Management and Managing Convention Businesses. Research interests include IT in hospitality; education; history of hotels; convention services, and club management. Received an inaugural Vice Chancellor’s award for Teaching Excellence, and two subsequent VC’s Teaching Awards as a member of two teaching teams. Member of two recent competitive grants research groups that comprised academics from several Australian universities. Jointly won a 2017 SCU Engagement Award for Engaged Learning
In the 21st century, our society is increasingly dependent on the work of knowledge analysts to help sort, categorize and interpret the ever-increasing information mass. I have a strong interest in information technology, the impact it has on human society, and the ways it can be utilised. It is my belief that technology can be a force for good and through proper direction and training, we can harness the benefits.
In this new era, past knowledge and old ways of doing things will no longer be applicable to problems. I possess two-character qualities that are crucial to successfully operate in this environment. Peter Dalmaris is an educator, electrical engineer, electronics hobbyist, and Maker. Creator of online video courses on DIY electronics and author of three technical books and has recently released his book Maker Education Revolution. As a Chief Tech Explorer since 2013 at Tech Explorations, the company he founded in Sydney, Australia, Peter’s mission is to explore technology and help educate the world. Before joining Newcastle, Assoc Prof Boyle lectured in University College Dublin, Centro de Estudios Superiores Universitarios de Galicia, Spain and the University of Sydney, Australia. Assoc Prof Boyle has also delivered units and guest lectures at universities in Malaysia, Hong Kong, and China. Assoc Prof Boyle was a graduate member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development (CIPD) the world’s largest Chartered management development professional body. Assoc Prof Boyle completed a master’s degree in business studies in University College Dublin and was awarded his PhD from the Discipline of International Business at University of Sydney 2009.
Brendan’s primary research interests include international HRM, knowledge management/sharing in organizations and top management teams. He has published research papers on knowledge creation and knowledge sharing in MNEs. He is currently involved in three major projects examining, collaboration in health care organizations, the management teams in the subsidiaries of multinational enterprises in China (MNEs) and the HRM practices of MNEs. Combined, these collaborative projects involve partnerships between Newcastle Business School and universities in Europe, North America, Latin America and Asia.
Brendan is also co-director of the Health Services Research and Innovation Centre at UoN (HSRIC). This centre aims to improve the design and management health services with particular emphasis interdisciplinary approaches to addressing critical challenges. Brendan is particularly interested in global health services research as an important emerging research area that integrates issues of public policy and health services development. Brendan has a particular focus on the mobility of health professionals – issues of immigration, expatriation and professional institutions.
Pamela Kent (PhD) is formerly Professor of Accounting at Bond and Griffith University. She has won numerous awards for teaching and research and has a track record of high quality research published in internationally refereed journals. She is a member of CPA Australia, American Accounting Association, Accounting and Finance Association of Australia and New Zealand and European Accounting Association. She has extensive experience in course development and the accounting profession in many roles. Her contribution to the profession is indicated by being an advisory panel member for the Foundation CPA Australia Program and being a long-term member of the Education Advisory Committee for CPA Australia. Senior course development roles at the University of Queensland include Sub Dean of Commerce, Director of Diploma in Accounting and Director of the Master of Financial Management. Similar roles associated with course development include Head of Department of Accounting, Disciplinary Committee member, Associate Dean of Academic Affairs and Chair of Teaching and Learning Committee at Bond University. She is currently a full-time staff member at the University of Adelaide.
Adjunct Professor Asif Iqbal has over twenty years’ experience as an academic, most of it in academic management roles. Educated in several continents Prof Iqbal’s initial commerce degree in Pakistan and a degree from the UK was followed by employment as an academic at the Assumption University of Bangkok and as the Head of the Marketing Department at the Bradford University, Bangkok Campus/Centre.
In Australia, Prof Iqbal lectured at the University of Wollongong, Australian Catholic University, Central Queensland University, and the University of Newcastle. He worked at the Central Queensland University for six years as lecture and the Sub-Dean of the Faculty of Business and Law. In that role, Prof Iqbal led a team of over 100 academics in wide ranging disciplines. As Sub-Dean of the Faculty of Business and Law, Prof Iqbal played a key role in the establishment of the new Sydney campus of Central Queensland University.
In 2005, Prof Iqbal was instrumental in setting up the Sydney Campus of Curtin University of Technology where he worked as the Academic Director leading a large team of academics until 2009. He managed the comprehensive campus audits conducted by the Australian Universities Quality Agency (AUQA) and was the Chair of the Academic Board at the Sydney Campus of Curtin University of Technology.
Prof Iqbal has been member of various corporate and academic committees at the Central Queensland University, Curtin University of Technology, the University of Wollongong, the University of Newcastle, Australian Institute of Business and QIBA Sydney.
As member of the CPA Australia Universities Committee, he played a key participant’s role in establishing a new membership pathway through study of foundation courses.
Following his role at Curtin University and prior to joining Southern Cross School of Business (SCSB), Prof Iqbal established the higher education division of Williams Business College and led it successfully in gaining the status of a non-self-accrediting higher education institution. The College Governing Council then appointed Prof Iqbal the Campus Director & Dean of Williams Business College. Prof Iqbal served as the Chair of the Higher Education Executive Management Team and a member of the Governing Council and the Academic Board. He is well-known for his expertise in higher education management and is widely consulted in the areas of higher education registration and course accreditation regulatory process.
Rex Walsh is a highly reputable academic in higher education sector. Before lecturing Rex have wide range of expertise in accounting and legal sector in highly reputable industries. Rex have also worked with VETAB (now known as ASQA) accreditation body as auditor (Industry expert) also Financial Controller in top accounting firms. In addition to legal and accounting qualifications Rex also have teaching qualifications like Master of Education and Certificate in Workplace training and assessment.

Rex is currently Officer of the Supreme Court of NSW, Member Law Society of Australia and associate member of CPA.
Rex is known for his social work is on final stages of completing his PhD.
Gajinder Paul (justice of the peace) is an engineer turned educator. Mr. Paul is well known in international education sector in Australia. He started his career in manufacturing and after PG degree in management got attracted towards education side. Mr. Paul set up Vocational educational education facility in 1999 and later in year 2000 with assistance of USQ started delivering higher education programs both in UG and PG sector till date. He also set up educational facilities in New Zealand(discontd.) and Brisbane.
He has passion for travel and looks after 5 marketing offices of Canterbury Education Group, attend study in Australia exhibitions and is in regular in touch with Austrade and Australian Embassies in all countries he travels.

Ian Benton’s professional specialty is guiding organisations in internationalising their marketing operations across unfamiliar cultures and in achieving organisational agility whilst doing it. For over 30 years, Ian has maintained a dual-career to Marketing Director roles in technology-based organisations in UK, Japan, and Australia in tandem lecturing various marketing and management subjects and often providing academic/administrative leadership at universities across the world where business has taken him. He has taught in the UNSW MBA, MBT, Master of Marketing and MCom programs as an Adjunct Senior Lecturer since 2006. Ian is a Fellow of the Australian Marketing Institute & member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (UK). He is an expert panel advisor to the Australian Federal Government’s Commercialisation Australia Innovation Program and sits on several Australian and UK Boards.
Dr Fiedler is an academic with nearly 20 years of experience in teaching Finance at Macquarie University and is currently the Head of Finance at King’s Own Institute, Sydney. Dr Fiedler is also a casual lecturer at KOI teaching Finance for the past 8 years. Prior to teaching, Dr Fiedler was the Chief Economist at AMP and Senior Economist for BIS Shrapnel. Dr Fiedler received his PhD in 1986 from the University of Queensland, he is also a fellow member with CPA Australia, Governance Institute of Australia, and Australian & New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance. Dr Fiedler was previously a Senior Fellow, Financial Services Institute of Australasia (S F Fin); a Registered Tax Agent; (Past) Member of Financial Planning Association (CFP); (Past) Member and NSW Branch Council Member, Economic Society of Australia; (Past) Trustee, Committee for Economic Development of Australia (CEDA).
Adj Assoc Prof Chioatto has an unparalleled background in business but with academic credentials. I am currently adjunct associate professor of law at Western Sydney University and the executive director of SSAMM Management Consulting.
His most recent role as Executive Director and Head of Research for Australia and New Zealand at Institutional Shareholder Services (ISS) was based on my significant depth of experience of the local equities market extending into south East Asia. I oversaw ‘thought leading’ research for ASX 300 companies, AGM’s.
