Dr. Javed Mahmood is a part-time Lecturer at the Canterbury Institute of Management (CIM), Melbourne Campus, where he teaches postgraduate courses in accounting. He holds a Ph.D. in Accounting from the University of Tasmania, Australia, and is a full member of CPA Australia and Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CA ANZ).
Dr. Mahmood brings over 10 years of tertiary teaching experience, having taught at several leading Australian universities, including RMIT University, Monash University, Victoria University, and the University of Adelaide. His teaching expertise spans Financial Accounting, Management Accounting, Accounting Theories, and Applications. He has also coordinated multiple accounting units and taught internationally at Henan University, China, in partnership with Victoria University an experience that enriched his cross-cultural teaching capabilities.
In addition to teaching, Dr. Mahmood is an active researcher with publications in reputable international journals and conferences. His research interests include earnings quality, earnings management, and sustainability reporting. He has presented his work at prestigious forums such as AFAANZ and is currently supervising five Master by Research students three as a primary supervisor and two as an associate supervisor all expected to complete their theses in early 2026.
