About the Centre 

Our Purpose 

The Dr Ian Benton Research Centre in Business & Management exists to foster a strong research culture at Canterbury Institute of Management. The Centre supports research that is academically rigorous, industryfocused, and aligned with CIM’s strategic objectives. 

The Centre aims to: 

• Encourage highquality business & management research with demonstrable impact 
• Support academic staff and students in research capability development 
• Enhance CIM’s contribution to knowledge, innovation, and professional practice 

About Dr Ian Benton 

The Centre is named in honour of Dr Ian Benton, recognising his long-standing contributions as founding member of CIM Governing Council and Founding Chair of the Academic Board.  

Dr Benton’s commitment to academic excellence, industry relevance, and studentcentred learning continues to guide the Centre’s mission and values.
