Tahir serves as Deputy Dean at Canterbury Institute of Management, where he contributes to advancing the Institute’s academic mission, strategic initiatives, and student success efforts. With a strong background in academia, research, and industry he brings a blend of experience to the position. In his teaching approach, he utilizes a deep-learning, experiential, innovative and transformative teaching philosophy.
Tahir is a transnational and interdisciplinary academic with 15 years of teaching, research, and professional experience from Australia, UK, and Pakistan. His pedagogical approach concentrates on student empowerment, inclusion, resilience, and transformation. His teaching and research interests include Management, Cross-Cultural Management, Human Resource Management, Disaster Management, Social Inclusion, and Community Development.
His particular area of interest is working with disadvantaged communities for their empowerment and development using approaches that are based on relationships, participation, and dialogue. He has secured several research grants. His research has been published in leading journals, and he has presented his work at numerous national and international forums. He serves as a reviewer to many prestigious journals including International Journal of Qualitative Methodologies, International Journal of Social Research Methodology, International Journal of Disaster Risk Reduction, and Progress in Disaster Science.
